Engaging Corporate Support

I just read a very interesting article in Philanthropy Journal that outlined some new paradigms for nonprofits seeking corporate support.  In short, there are four things to keep in mind:

  • Alignment.  Their corporate mission must align with yours.
  • Mapping needs.  Are there noncash assets a corporation can bring to the table?
  • Sustainability.  Nonprofits and institutional funders should be looking for “partnerships and relationships that they can sustain over time.
  • Engagement.  Nonprofits should be looking for opportunities to engage a company’s employees as well as its cash
